About this hike

Via Ferrata Ari sits in Rugova Canyon, a few minutes from Peja, and was the first via ferrata built in Kosovo. The route is protected by steel cable along its whole length and climbs past two caves to the top of the canyon.

Before we start, the guide explains how to use the gear and the basic technique for moving along the cable. We climb at a calm pace, stopping to enjoy the view of the Lumbardh river below. The way down is on foot along a marked path.

Level

Grade B (moderate). Suitable for via ferrata beginners with good fitness and a head for heights.

Required gear: helmet, harness and via ferrata set. Ask us if you don't have them.

What to bring

  • Hiking shoes with good grip
  • A 20–30 litre backpack
  • At least 1.5 litres of water
  • Food and snacks for the whole day
  • A wind and rain jacket
  • Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
  • ID card or passport
  • Helmet, harness and via ferrata set (ask us if you don't have them)
  • Gloves for the cable
